Business Financing Checklist

Use this checklist to organize the facts that can help Meridian understand the business need and identify the most relevant financing path.

1. Define the financing need

  • What is the business trying to accomplish?
  • Approximate amount being considered
  • Preferred timing
  • Whether the need relates to recurring business expenses, equipment, or real estate

2. Organize business information

The exact information requested depends on the financing path and provider review.

  • Legal business name and business structure
  • Industry and primary business activity
  • Time in business
  • Ownership information relevant to the transaction
  • Current business contact information

3. Gather financial information when relevant

Different programs request different documentation. For example, The published Business Line of Credit program presented through Meridian lists one year of tax returns and three months of bank statements.

  • Recent bank statements when requested
  • Tax returns when requested
  • Current profit-and-loss information when relevant to the financing path
  • Existing financing obligations relevant to the transaction

4. Add transaction-specific information

  • Equipment quote, invoice, seller, or existing obligation information for equipment discussions
  • Property information for real estate discussions
  • Rent roll, P&L, or personal financial statement where listed for commercial investment financing
  • Experience worksheet, scope of work, personal financial statement, and pro forma where listed for ground-up construction

5. Review for accuracy before submission

Use current, accurate information and be prepared to respond to follow-up requests. A checklist item does not mean it is required for every transaction.

Availability, eligibility, structures, costs, and timing depend on the transaction, provider review, documentation, program availability, and applicable terms.

This resource is educational. Specific Meridian program terms, requirements, and availability depend on the program and transaction review.
